Blackwater Benediction is a reflection on that quiet tension between permanence and change. A weathered bridge spans dark water beneath gathering clouds, standing witness to seasons, floods, droughts, and countless crossings. The river moves steadily beneath it, carrying away what no longer belongs and delivering what comes next.
Painted in watercolor, the piece combines geometric forms with flowing washes to capture both the structure of the bridge and the restless movement of the water below. Deep blues, muted greens, warm ochres, and touches of gold echo the colors of riverbanks, aged timber, distant forests, and fleeting light.
The title comes from the feeling of standing in such a place. Not a grand cathedral or dramatic overlook, but a quiet bend in the river where the world seems to slow down for a moment.
