The Shape of Waiting began in 2004 and remained unfinished for more than twenty years.
Over the years, it became more than a painting. It became a reminder of all the things we wait for: healing, answers, courage, change, reconciliation, understanding, and sometimes simply the strength to take the next step. Like many unfinished things, it quietly accompanied me through seasons of life, collecting meaning along the way.
When I finally completed the piece in 2026, I knew I wanted it to exist in more than one form. While limited edition versions are available, I chose to create this smaller open edition because I wanted the painting to remain accessible to anyone who felt connected to its story.
Each 11×14 archival print is individually hand embellished with Clucking Hill's signature gold accents. Though simpler than the limited editions, every print is touched by hand and finished with care.
My hope is that this piece finds its way to someone who needs it. Someone in a season of waiting. Someone learning to trust that unfinished things can still become beautiful. Someone who needs a reminder that even the longest journeys continue, one small step at a time.
Sometimes hope arrives all at once. More often, it arrives quietly and asks us to keep going.
